Welcome to Week 5 of the Astra Quilt Sew Along (SAL)! This week will be sewing the last few blocks plus the cornerstone rows.

Cornerstone Rows

I love to chain piece the cornerstone rows together! Chain piecing is when you continuously sew as you make your row. Suzy has a great tutorial. I am still getting the hang of the technique and to be honest, the concept didn’t come easy for me. But the more I have practiced it the more I do find it useful.
Press towards the sashing (away from the cornerstones). This will set you up to nest the rows together next week.

I add my next sashing piece, right sides together, with a pin; this helps me sew faster.

Complete cornerstone rows for my throw Astra. I will keep them together like this until I’m ready to assemble the quilt.
